How long has your firm been Chartered?
4 years
Why is Chartered status important to your business?
Our "why" for starting and building our business was, and remains, putting our clients’ interests first and being the best that we can be; both technically and in terms of our ethics and service levels.
Achieving Chartered status enables us to demonstrate to clients, existing and prospective, that we have achieved the highest standards and is a 'badge' that we wear with pride.
It also means more that we must retain our Chartered Status each year; ensuring that we do not lose our focus on what is important and our "why".
What initiative has the organisation been involved in which has had a social impact/corporate social responsibility focus on?
We actively contribute towards what is a positive community spirit locally, organising events and raising funds for the benefit of local residents in need.
We seek to support the Cranstoun charity; and make our clients aware of the incredible work that they do locally with young people in need of support to help turn their lives around.
How do you ensure your employees remain at the forefront of their profession?
Part of our Hayden Kilkelly legacy is for our employees to grow to become professionals capable of flourishing within the financial planning profession.
Our employees are actively encouraged to be CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) members and develop their knowledge and experience by attaining professional qualifications.
We have motivated, young team members who are like sponges; wanting to learn from the older heads within our business who, in turn, understand their responsibility to lead by example.
We actively support our PFS/CII regional committee and participate in seminars. We include and expose our team members to PFS/CII gatherings as it aids their development and broadens their experience. We want them to understand the profession in which they work and to challenge how things are done currently with a view to making improvements, both from the perspective of the CII and Hayden Kilkelly.
How have you implemented the CII Code of Ethics into your business?
The CII Code of Ethics reflect our own and are embedded within our proposition.
We are proud of the culture we have created within our business; honest, transparent, aiming to be the best we can be and recognising that always doing the right thing keeps our business healthy.
What advice would you give a firm who is considering applying to become Chartered?
As well as living and breathing the Chartered Ethos, which can only be a good thing, there is the added attraction of being able to 'stand out' amongst peers.
It is a formal, positive recognition that not only helps ensure that you run your business the right way but can also be marketed to help grow your business.
