In our new Introducing series, we’ll be shining the spotlight on some of our newly joined Corporate Chartered firms.

We’ll be finding out more about what they do, what inspired them to become Chartered and how they found the process.

First up we catch up with Laurence Pipkin, Managing Director at Temple Legal Protection who became Chartered Insurance Underwriting Agents in October 2025.

Could you tell us a little about your firm and the services you provide?

Temple Legal Protection is a specialist legal expenses MGA working with leading law firms and insurance brokers and across the UK. We offer after the event (ATE) and before the event (BTE) cover, supported by expert underwriting and a total commitment to service.

Our ATE products provide comprehensive cover for clinical negligence cases, commercial disputes and complex personal injury claims. We also have business partnerships with insurance brokers in a number of specialist sectors for our BTE products. All are built on our reputation for careful underwriting and clarity in how we support them and their clients.

What inspired your firm to apply for Corporate Chartered status?

We have always placed professional standards, staff development and client focus at the centre of how we work.

Applying for Corporate Chartered status felt like a natural next step to reflect these values formally and to show our commitment to quality across both the ATE and BTE sectors. It was also important to recognise the expertise and dedication shown by our team, whose work underpins our reputation as a trusted MGA.

How did you find the application process?

The process was detailed and thoughtful, and it prompted us to reflect on our internal practices, staff training and wider contribution to the profession. It gave us an opportunity to show how we meet the CII’s requirements in a clear and structured way.

The CII’s guidance was clear throughout, which helped us progress each stage with confidence.

What does being a Chartered firm represent for your business?

It is a mark of trust and professionalism.

It shows our partners and clients that our work is grounded in strong principles, technical competence and a commitment to continued learning. It also reflects our wish to play a constructive part in the future of the insurance sector, particularly within legal expenses insurance.

How did you mark this milestone?

We shared the news with our staff and acknowledged the part every member of the team played in reaching this point.

We will also be welcoming a representative from the CII to present our plaque, which will be a further moment for our team and an opportunity to highlight the achievement publicly.

How will you communicate your Chartered status to your clients?

Our Chartered status will be highlighted across our website, email signatures, LinkedIn and printed material. We will also publish a short article and a video interview to explain what the status means for our partners and how it supports the work we do with firms across the UK.

What advice would you give to other firms considering applying?

Take the opportunity to review your internal processes and training record early, as this will make the application stages smoother.

It is crucial to involve colleagues from across the business, as their input often shows where strengths lie and where small refinements can be made. Above all, approach the application to recognise good practices already in place.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your Chartered journey?

This achievement comes at an important point in Temple’s development, following our recent Chambers directory recognition.

Both milestones reflect the standards we aim to uphold and our long-term commitment to supporting both the legal profession and our business partners within the insurance industry. We celebrated our 25th Anniversary last year and we see Corporate Chartered status as both an endorsement of where we are in our journey as a company and a foundation for our next 25 years.
