In our next 5 minutes with feature, we catch up with James Almond and Jenny Hyde, Directors at Stanmore Insurance Brokers.

Formed in 1962, Stanmore Insurance Brokers Limited have been providing personal and professional insurance to north west-businesses – offering protection and peace of mind.

Based in Bolton, they take a sector-specific approach and specialise in insuring children’s nurseries under the dot2dot nursery insurance scheme.

Grab a cuppa and read on to see how they have been living the Chartered Ethos.

How long has your firm been Chartered?

14 years.

Why is Chartered status important to your business?

Corporate Chartered status is a meaningful part of who we are.

It reflects our commitment to doing things the right way—putting our clients first, supporting our team’s growth, and maintaining high standards across the board.

It’s not just a title; it’s a promise to act with integrity and professionalism in everything we do.

What initiative has the organisation been involved in which has had a social impact/corporate social responsibility focus on?

We’re proud to be involved in initiatives that make a real difference.

One example is our 'Safeguarding on Trial' event, which helped nursery owners better understand how to handle sensitive investigations and allegations.

We also support our local community by running and supporting regular charitable events, such as Girls Out Loud and Bolton Lads and Girls Club.

How do you ensure your employees remain at the forefront of their profession?

We believe in investing in people is one of the most important tasks of any successful business.

We’ve made sure our team has access to the right qualifications, training, and support to grow in their careers.

We also encourage learning through workshops, mentorships, internal policies, and digital platforms - keeping everyone informed and inspired.

How have you implemented the CII Code of Ethics into your business?

Ethics are at the heart of how we operate.

The CII Code of Ethics guides us to always act in our clients’ best interests and maintain a culture of honesty and professionalism. We’ve woven these principles into our daily practices, from how we communicate to how we deliver our services.

We are in process of launching our Mission, Vision and Shared Core Values, which has been developed by our teams here at Stanmore and will become a significant milestone for us once embedded across our policies and processes.

What advice would you give a firm who is considering applying to become Chartered?

If you’re considering applying for Chartered status, our advice is to see it as a journey of growth.

Focus on building and investing in your team’s development and keep your clients at the centre of everything you do.

It’s a great way to show your commitment to excellence and build trust with those you serve.
