Professor Richard Susskind, Paul O’Brien, and Penny Jones are among those announced to speak at the 2025 Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Shaping the Future of Insurance Conference on 1 October in London.
In a day of exploration into how AI is reshaping the sector, keynote speaker Professor Richard Susskind OBE will share his thoughts on ‘AI and the Future of the Insurance Profession’. Paul O’Brien of Davies Group will examine the use of AI in claims, for speed, service and smarter resolutions, while Penny Jones, Responsible AI Lead at Zurich, is set to cover AI in Underwriting: ‘Smarter Risk, Sharper Decisions’. Further sessions will include navigating AI regulation, covering ‘What Insurance Professionals Need to Know’.
The conference promises a deep dive into AI, and what it means for day-to-day roles, future careers, and the wider profession. From smarter underwriting and faster claims, to evolving regulation and ethics - speakers, sessions and panels will explore both the power of AI innovation, and the human impact involved. Delegates will also learn more about career planning and progression with a session from Adam Harper, the CII’s Director of Strategy, Advocacy and Professional Standards, on the CII Professional Map.
Registration for the conference is now open to both CII members and non-members, who can expect cutting-edge keynotes, real world AI applications, and honest conversations with some of the profession’s most forward-thinking minds, including leaders from Clear Group, and the CII’s own Community Board and New Generation programme.
For the first time, the CII Shaping the Future of Insurance Conference will also feature exclusive sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities. With over 400 in-person attendees and 1,000 virtual participants, organisations are offered an exceptional platform to showcase their brand, engage directly with senior industry leaders, and build meaningful connections within the insurance community. This new initiative aims to foster collaboration and community-building, uniting insurance professionals in tackling shared challenges and drive progress together.
Matthew Hill, CII Chief Executive, said: “The influence of AI can be seen across all aspects of the insurance profession, from how we assess risk to how we connect with customers. The CII Shaping the Future of Insurance Conference is an excellent opportunity for professionals at every level to understand what the impact of AI means in practice, and to help shape a future where pioneering technology goes hand in hand with standards, professionalism, and trust.”
