Support for learners under 18

Important information and guidance

Learners aged 16 or 17

CII qualifications are designed for adult learners. The content is technical and directly relevant to employment in our sector. Our qualifications are delivered through distance learning (a study text and RevisionMate resources) so there is no tutor. If you need help with technical access, accessibility, booking exams or have any concerns, please contact the relevant team or our customer service team.

To set yourself up for success, please:

Prepare for your assessment with confidence and extra safeguards

We have special arrangements for under-18 learners taking exams that are based on current best practice in ensuring their safety.

We currently do not offer remote exams for under-18s. You must take your exam at a test centre with a completed emergency contact form and parental consent form. These can be found in our rules and policies section. A parent or guardian cannot be present with you during the exam itself, so it is important to consider whether you are comfortable with these arrangements before starting to study for your qualification.

Ensure you know the rules

Please ensure you are familiar with the qualification rules and policies, including what is allowed when taking assessments. Our policies set out what is expected of you, and what you can expect from us.

Let us know if you need support

Our policies are there to support you and provide you with contact points. For example, if you need help to take an assessment (called a reasonable adjustment or access arrangement), we can adapt the assessment arrangements.

If you have a general query or are unsure about which team to contact, please get in touch with our friendly Customer Service team, who will make sure the right colleagues support you.

Learners under 16

CII qualifications are designed for the needs of learners aged over 16.

If you are under 16, you will not be able to start studying for our qualifications just yet, but we have plenty of support to help you explore fulfilling career options. Take a look at our resources for people considering a future in the varied and rewarding professions of insurance and personal finance.
