Maclonex Mwase ACII
Chartered Insurer
Maclonex developed an interest in insurance whilst in high school and decided to pursue it as a career. He has worked in the Malawi insurance sector for 15 years and is a Chartered Insurer, having attained his ACII in 2011.
Across these 15 years, he has held positions in claims and underwriting with various companies and is currently working as Country Sales Manager for Britam Insurance Company Malawi Limited.
Maclonex is passionate about growing and developing insurance in Malawi and serves as the President of the Insurance Institute of Malawi, having previously held the positions of Vice President and Education Secretary. Whilst Education Secretary he introduced an internship programme for students who had completed their diploma, to help prepare them for employment once they finished their studies.
As the current president of the Insurance Institute of Malawi, his primary goal is to ensure an improvement in the level of insurance literacy in the country, as this will increase the levels of insurance penetration and inevitably serve to grow the insurance sector.
