Behavioural Finance for Advisers
15 & 16 September 2026, 09:30 - 12:30 (UK time)
Online Training Workshop
Two half-days
15 & 16 September 2026, 09:30 - 12:30 (UK time)
Most advisers know, intellectually, that clients aren't purely rational. They've seen people panic in markets, delay decisions that make sense on paper, or cling to views that quietly work against their own interests. The frustration usually isn't a lack of technical knowledge — it's knowing what should happen, and watching something else happen instead.
This two half‑day workshop is about closing that gap. We look at behavioural finance not as a list of biases to memorise, but as something that shows up in real conversations, often subtly and without warning.

Workshop Overview
Advisers learn how bias, emotion, memory, and identity influence decisions in the moment — and, crucially, how to respond without arguing, persuading, or slipping into pressure.
The focus is on practical judgement: noticing what's driving behaviour, slowing the conversation down when needed, and helping clients think clearly enough to make decisions they're comfortable with over the long term.
This workshop isn't about turning advisers into psychologists. It's about giving them a clearer lens for what they're already seeing and a steadier hand when behaviour, not numbers, is driving the decision. That's where behavioural finance earns its keep.
By the end of the workshop, advisers will be able to:
- Recognise common behavioural biases as they show up in real conversations, rather than as abstract concepts or academic labels.
- Understand why logic alone often fails, even when advice is technically sound and clearly explained.
- Spot when emotion, fear, or overconfidence is driving a decision, and respond appropriately without confrontation or debate.
- Use simple, practical techniques to slow decision‑making down, creating space for clients to think rather than react.
- Reframe biased thinking without arguing facts, adjusting the context of the decision instead of challenging beliefs head‑on.
- Support clients through uncertainty, hesitation, and inertia, without rushing them or rescuing the decision for them.
- Help clients feel ownership of their decisions, increasing follow‑through and long‑term confidence in the advice process.
