Certificate in London Market Insurance (Apprenticeship)

Building knowledge, developing core competence

The Certificate in London Market Insurance Apprenticeship is a specialised qualification for those working in or conducting business through the London Market and undertaking the Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship.

The Certificate develops knowledge and understanding of the underwriting disciplines within the London Market, key elements of the cycle, and explores the opportunities and challenges posed by using different distribution channels such as delegated underwriting.

Who's it for

Apprentices on the Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship that are employees of Lloyd’s syndicates, brokers, managing agents or members’ agents in an entry level insurance practitioner role.

Recognition of prior learning

Before starting study, check to see whether any of your previous academic qualifications or credits from other professional bodies and institutes can be carried towards completion of the Certificate.

If the apprentice has successfully achieved IF1 or LM1 prior to starting the apprenticeship, providers must apply to the End Point Assessment Organisation to recognise achievement at gateway before End Point Assessment (EPA) begins.

Study time

Specific study time guidelines are provided for each unit on its webpage and in the CII qualifications brochure. The notional Ofqual ‘Total Qualification Time’ for this qualification is 160 hours. This represents the time a student might typically take to complete the qualification.

Assessment method

Each unit is assessed by a single multiple-choice on screen exam, tested year-round throughout the UK at a choice of over 40 centres. The qualification award will be graded fail/pass.

Learning support

Qualification units are delivered through purchasing an Enrolment, equipping you with the essential materials to support core learning. For a single fee, an Enrolment typically includes study text, assessment and access to RevisionMate, our online study tool.

We also offer additional revision aids through purchasing Enrolment plus for most key units. These range from Key fact booklets and Question packs, to Learn online tutorials.
