Shaping the future of insurance: Delivering resilience within the insurance community digital conference took place Thursday 28 September. The conference aimed to bring a holistic view to how insurance professionals think about resilience.

The Chartered Insurance Institute’s President Russell Higginbotham set the scene and explained why resilience is fundamental within the insurance profession.

Further sessions explored both ESG and the impact of flooding and other natural disasters, before Russell led a panel discussion which explored how to build partnerships for community resilience.

The event closed with a fascinating insight into the impact on the mental health of claims handlers who deal with distressing calls which may lead to second-hand trauma.

The latest advances in flood modelling - what they tell us about current and future risks

Traditionally, the ability to understand and model floods has lagged behind other perils. But in recent years flood risk modelling has undergone a revolution. The tools we now use to simulate and quantify these exposures are more advanced than ever before, providing increasingly detailed and sometimes surprising insights into flood risk now and in the future.

Join Dr Andrew Smith, co-founder and Chief Operations Officer at Fathom for an exploration of recent developments in the realm of flood modelling and the conclusions we can draw from them. In times of climate change and increasing severity and volatility, the ability to understand and price flood risk becomes more important than ever.
