The Society of Claims Professionals has unveiled Ashton West OBE and William Quibell as the latest additions to its Advisory Board.

Each year the Society elects a number of new board members to replace those stepping down, ensuring a continuous combination of experience and new thinking.

Ashton West is a Director at Fidu Consultancy and Non-executive Director at national law firm Weightmans LLP. He was formerly Chief Executive of the Motor Insurers Bureau and received an OBE for services to road safety in 2015. He is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and brings significant insight across claims and general insurance. Speaking on his appointment to the SOCP Board, West said: I am absolutely delighted to have the opportunity of joining the Advisory Board of the SOCP. It is important that we all continue to promote the true value of insurance to the public, build trust and demonstrate the importance of  professionals in the provision of insurance services. The Society is dedicated to the development of the claims profession and has been building the foundations for the provision of insight and support to all claims professionals. I look forward to contributing to this important work over the course of this year and beyond.”

William Quibell is Head of Major Loss & Supplier Management at Legal and General. He is both a Chartered Insurer and Chartered Construction Manager. He possesses over two decades of experience in claims and has been the recipient of several industry awards. Quibell said: As a technical practitioner I started my claims career in 1997 as a claims handler and have progressed to senior leadership via various claims and field based roles whilst studying for my industry professional qualifications. This pathway has given me a passion for developing young and ambitious talent into and within our industry.  The claims sector can at times have a questionable reputation but it is a wonderful sector in which to develop a career and do the right things for consumers.  I am confident that we can work together on the board to change hearts and minds in this respect.”

Stepping down from the board are Stephen Roberts, Executive Claims Director at Riverstone Management Limited, and Judy O’Neill, Head of Claims at Travelers. Thanking them for their contribution to the Society, Advisory Board Chair Sue McCall said: "In addition to their busy day jobs, our Board members give up their time to provide guidance and leadership to further the objectives of the Society. I’d like to thank Stephen and Judy for their contribution, particularly during a very busy first year for us. We wish them the very best in the future.”
