Lee Elliston, claims director of LMA, has joined the Society of Claims Professionals (SOCP) board.

The purpose of the Society of Claims Professionals board is to provide advice, technical expertise, access to key personnel and advocacy of the Chartered Insurance Institute’s drive to raise professional standards.

Mr Elliston started his insurance career as a claims technician with Willis Re in 2000, before he went on to join Marsh in 2003.

He worked at Catlin as reinsurance operations manager after returning to Willis Re as senior claims executive.

He joined LMA in 2013 and is currently claims director, responsible for leading and supporting the Lloyd’s markets Claims and Delegated Underwriting strategy.

Mr Elliston said: “I believe it is a great time for the claims profession to unite and reset the messaging on claims in a way that responds to policyholders, risk managers, existing talent and new talent.

“We need to look at ourselves and the profession of claims from the outside in, supported by some thought leadership and appropriate calls to action on some of the technical trends and challenges that the profession is experiencing.

“I am passionate about the priorities that the board is set to focus on and how I can add value to its work, while tying in the Lloyd’s and London market agenda, lens and community.”

Sue McCall, Chair of the Society of Claims Professionals, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Lee to the advisory board.

“His experience and journey in the claims sector will be invaluable to the Society of Claims Professionals, at a crucial time for the sector.

“I have no doubt his work leading the LMA claims team will offer unique insights and perspectives to our members, and provide further opportunities for both our organisations to add value to claims professionals throughout the sector.”
