Fellowship Programme Overview

At its heart, the Fellowship programme expects that Associate-level insurance professionals are best placed to evaluate and address their own development needs. This allows you to select a path to Fellowship which fits your own skills, interests and development needs to present a full picture of your technical knowledge, business skills and achievements.

Are you eligible?

To enrol onto the Fellowship programme you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Have completed your Advanced Diploma/Associateship*
  • Be a current ACII member of the CII (and remain a member throughout your progression to Fellowship)
  • Be wholly or mainly engaged or employed in work connected with insurance for at least four years.

* If you achieved ACII before 1992 you will also need to submit a summary of ten years’ relevant work experience.

The Fellowship Programme consists of 6 steps and takes most practitioners 3-5 years to complete.

Step 1 – Enrolment and Fellowship Plan
Step 2 – Business Ethics Programme (BEP)
Step 3 – A Major Achievement
Step 4 – Continuing Professional Development (CPD) records
Step 5 – A Statement of Personal Development
Step 6 – Election application to the Fellowship Assessment Board

The CII Fellowship Advisory Service (FAS) can provide information about the Fellowship Programme and offer a wide range of help and advice.
