Online Training Workshop
One full-day
30 June 2026, 09:30 - 16:30 (UK)
Although the FCA and PRA withdrew their proposed Diversity & Inclusion regulatory framework in 2025, legal, reputational, and conduct risks associated with unfair recruitment and progression remain significant for regulated firms. Employment tribunals continue to award substantial compensation for discrimination, while poor hiring and promotion practices undermine culture, governance credibility, and public trust.

Workshop Objectives
This workshop equips HR professionals in insurance and regulated financial services to design recruitment and progression processes that are fair, evidence-based, and legally defensible. Using real case law and tribunal outcomes, participants examine how bias arises, how to mitigate it, and how to document decisions to withstand regulatory scrutiny and legal challenge. The programme focuses on practical risk management rather than ideology, positioning fair recruitment as a governance and conduct issue as much as an equality one.
- Understand Legal & Regulatory Risk – Understand the legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and the risks of non-compliant recruitment and promotion practices.
- Identify Bias in Recruitment & Progression – Recognise where unconscious and systemic bias commonly arises in attraction, selection, assessment, and promotion decisions.
- Design Fair Selection Processes – Apply objective, role-related criteria and structured assessment methods to reduce bias and improve decision quality.
- Document Defensible Decisions – Understand how to evidence fair decision-making to protect the organisation in tribunals, audits, and regulatory reviews.
- Manage Data & Inclusion Risks – Explore compliant approaches to collecting, using, and reporting diversity data in regulated environments.
- Protect Culture & Reputation – Understand how recruitment fairness impacts organisational culture, employee trust, brand reputation, and customer confidence.
