Workshop objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will have covered:

• Insurable interest – the legal right to insure.
• Utmost Good Faith/Good Faith – the duty of disclosure.
• Indemnity – what are the limits to indemnity & how can it be modified?
• Corollaries of indemnity – Subrogation & Contribution – the claims principles.
• Proximate cause – how do you establish the dominant cause of loss?

Learning outcomes

• To build a foundation knowledge of the key Legal Insurance Principles in Insurance.
• To appreciate the importance of these legal principles throughout the insurance process.
• To appreciate the integral nature of Insurance Legal principles, from outset, with underwriting right through to the settlement of claims.
• To be aware of the ways in which Insurers recover after a loss scenario.

This training is ideal for anyone who is new to the insurance industry or administrative staff working directly in the market or supporting areas.

This workshop will be delivered online with a trainer via Microsoft Teams, over one full day session. New dates coming for 2024, 09:30-16:30 (UK). 

Delegates must ensure they have access to Teams to join the session.

At the end of this course, you will receive a certificate of attendance from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
