Financial advice business leaders face multiple calls on their time and resources and they have many roles to fulfil, especially if advising clients while leading a team. This programme is specifically aimed at helping those business owners and leaders by creating some space to focus on growing and developing their business with structured and practical support.

This interactive training programme, developed between the CII and Elephants Child, incorporates a variety of techniques which aim to deliver increased strength and value in a UK Advisory Business in a regulated market environment, underpinned by a clear business plan, with a particular focus on alignment with the FCA’s Consumer Duty principles.

The Programme is interactive and engaging with a distinct outcome for each participant. It will provide a clear methodology to grow business value and includes a completed Business Plan for each business that incorporates a three-year strategic plan and one year action plans. These plans are working documents that will not only provide a clear pathway to business growth but can also be used to evidence best practice, for example with potential lenders, funders, buyers and meeting the FCA requirement for regulated businesses to be able to evidence professional and prudential business management.

Implementing the T-shaped Professional Practice Model, originally conceived to help accountants develop their business management and organisational skills we have developed a model specifically for the financial advisory sector. This model seeks to capture boundary crossing competencies that utilises the professional and technical skills required to deliver competently professional financial advice alongside the entrepreneurial and business skills required to deliver this advice at a profit. 

 

What will I get by attending the course? 

A clear understanding of the key growth drivers in your business and valuable insight into how similar businesses, both within the Advisory sector and in other sectors, have turbo-charged their growth potential.

You will create your own three-year growth plan that will signpost and document your Growth Pathway.

You will also gain a comprehensive insight into how you can prepare for potential Due Diligence, the steps you need to take that will make your business more saleable and what you must do to ensure your business value is optimised on exit.

  • 2 hour virtual 1-2-1 session to review Strategic & Action Plan
  • An optional 12 month ongoing coaching programme

What are the course dates?

The Programme will begin with an online 30 minute  introduction:

  • 'Kick-off session' on Wednesday, 5 June 2024 at 10am (UK)

The subsequent 4 x Face-to-Face sessions will be held at the CII Offices between 09:30-16:30 (UK) on the below dates:

  • Session 1: Wednesday, 12 June 2024
  • Session 2: Thursday, 13 June 2024
  • Session 3: Wednesday, 26 June 2024
  • Session 4: Thursday, 27 June 2024

Final 1-2-1 review session:

  • Session 5 (2hrs online): 3 July 2024

Method of delivery

The Training workshops will be delivered over a 4-week period, which will include face to face workshops held at the CII Offices, Chartered Insurance Institute, 3rd Floor, 20 Fenchurch Street, London, EC3M 3BY.

The Training Programme includes 4x full-day Training sessions, with an additional 2-hour virtual (online) 1-2-1 session with a tutor, for the final review.   

The Programme will begin with a 30 minute online introductory 'Kick-off session' on Wednesday, 5 June 2024 at 10am (UK).

The subsequent 4 x Face-to-Face sessions will be held at the CII Offices between 09:30-16:30 (UK) on the below dates:

The final review session will be a 2-hour virtual (online) 1-2-1 session with your Tutor:

*Your 1-2-1 session time, will be allocated to you by your Trainer, during the course.

Delegates must ensure they can access the online training session through MS Teams.   

 

Certificate

At the end of this course, you will receive a certificate of attendance from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
