It also shows how to meet the FCA’s Training and Competence (T&C) arrangements, the wider requirements under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR), and the Consumer Duty requirements that require firms to deliver good outcomes to customers. Having effective supervisory processes in place will help deliver these.
Effective supervision requires the individual to understand the key FCA regulatory requirements that impact on the conduct and competence of individuals. We then need understand what is meant by leadership and explore a range of different perspectives on what makes an effective leader. Communication is an essential part of being an effective manager as is understanding how people learn and what effective training looks like. J07 also looks at monitoring performance, strategy and the key elements of the UK GDPR, money laundering and employment law that people managers need to be aware of.
