Award in Investment Planning (non-UK) (AWP)

The default Enrolment option for this unit includes:

(1) 12-month access to the latest study material, in digital format only, delivered on RevisionMate.

(2) Assessment entry – this includes an exam voucher that is valid for 18 months.

Access to digital study material as part of your Enrolment

You will have access to your digital study material on RevisionMate for 12 months from the date of purchase. If a new edition of the study material is released during this period, you will automatically receive access to the material on RevisionMate and will be notified via email.

The Award is open to anybody working in the insurance and financial services sector, irrespective of educational background. It does however require you to have a good understanding of financial advice principles and products.

It's particularly suited to experienced non-UK financial advisers and insurance agents advising on, or aspiring to advise on, investment planning. These individuals will usually hold one or more other CII Award level qualifications.

Building a successful career in personal finance

Those with a prior understanding of financial advice principles and products, gained in the workplace or by completing the Award in Financial Planning or Award in Bancassurance may wish to enter for this Award.

This single unit award may also count towards the Certificate in Insurance and Financial Services (non-UK).

Please note: Award in Investment Planning Enrolments are not available in the UK. Non-UK candidates can enrol online and by phoning Customer Service. You will be prompted to select your chosen international exam centre location and date or sit your exam from home with remote invigilation. Learning outcomes

At the end of this unit, candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • main macro-economic factors that impact upon investment returns
  • cash deposits, government securities and corporate bonds
  • equity-based investment and property investment
  • collective investment products and alternative investments
  • the risks faced by investors and the importance of asset allocation

Assessment

  • 1 hour exam
  • 42 multiple choice questions (MCQs) along with 2 case studies each comprising 4 MCQs
  • The standard pass mark is 70% (for more information on standard pass marks please see here)
  • The 2023 pass rate for this unit was 53.4%
