Course Summary

This apprenticeship develops the skills needed to specialise in a specific area of the insurance industry. It has been designed for banks and building societies, but may have wider applications across financial services, including life insurance. It lets apprentices specialise in a particular area of the insurance industry, with supporting and appropriate professional qualifications.

Qualification: Apprenticeship including CII Level 4 Diploma in Insurance M05, M80,
M92, M86

Entry requirements: Insurance Practitioner L3 preferred, and L2 English and Maths

Who is it for?

Those looking to specialise in a particular area of insurance.

What will they learn?

The qualification consists of two compulsory units, covering insurance law and insurance industry business concepts – and a range of optional units, spanning a variety of insurance product areas and functions.

As an apprentice insurance professional, the learner will consolidate their technical, industry and business knowledge, and develop the skills needed to apply this knowledge to a range of complex or unfamiliar situations. Depending on the needs of the employer, they could be working in one of the following areas: broking, client management, underwriting, claims, operations, loss adjusting, reinsurance, risk management, product and pricing, or complaint handling.

Assessment

Apprentices will study for diploma-level CII qualifications before being assessed at the end (‘end-point assessment’).

What's next?

After completing this apprenticeship, the employee can go on to study for the full Advanced Diploma qualification. They can also apply to the relevant professional body for professional registration with recognised status of Dip CII, (Chartered Insurance Institute).
