UK Examinations Online

Online exams are available for the following qualifications:

Benefits of online exams

• You enter for exams when you are ready rather than at set quarterly dates.
• You receive provisional notification of your results immediately upon completion.
• You can progress with your studies at a pace that matches your study and career aspirations.
• Should you fail the test you can apply to re-sit at a date and time convenient to you rather than waiting until the next quarterly test session. Note: you must provide a minimum of seven working day notice.

How do online exams work in practice?

The format of the online exams remains unchanged from the hard-copy versions, except that they are now completed online rather than by using paper and pencil. Exams take place at centres throughout the UK. The online exam service is not yet available outside the UK.

This is intended to make you comfortable with the Institutes' online testing environment. The questions shown are not taken from CII examinations.

Online exam centres (UK only)

There are currently more than 40 online exams centres in 24 locations, selected for their accessibility via rail/road links. Availability will vary from centre to centre in accordance with patterns of demand. We recommend booking six weeks in advance to give the best chance of getting your preferred exam date and timing at your chosen centre.

Your application should preferably accompany your exam entry. The CII will hold your medical evidence on file, but you must send in a written request for provision to be made/consideration given before each subsequent exam you enter.
