A very interesting and informative video. I am glad that Mr. David Crichton emphasised how the insurance industry could help by being more actively involved with social infrastructure and measures (e.g. governmental flood management) and business developments (e.g. where and how houses are built). I feel that all the talk about improving professional standards and ethical conduct is just that "talk" unless we revise our attitudes to an active moral stance by seeking to use our influence to improve social infrastructure and or change the way in which risk is approached and reduce the exposure and (necessity for) suffering of vulnerable elements of society. This would be a commendable step for the insurance industry even if it is ultimately motivated by reduction of future claims costs which result in increased profits.
