What is the Faculty of Claims?

It is a market forum for everyone engaged in claims activities no matter what level of experience.

Taking the very best of the CII and CILA, combined with direction and support from the market, it aims to encourage progression to qualified status and provide information, events, seminars and guidance on the maintenance of good practice in claims.

In short, it is there to support and inform you and ensure that the customer receives the very best from their insurers or insurance advisers at a time when they need it most.

As an individual member of the Faculty you will get access to a wide variety of information and services that can help support you in your role as a claims professional. In practical terms the Faculty supports claims people by:

1. Providing recognition for the claims professional through a set of dedicated claims designations

• Cert CII (Claims)
• Dip CII (Claims)

2.Supporting senior and Chartered status professionals at the levels of

• ACII
• FCII

3. Providing an extensive range of examination subjects that will help develop and demonstrate your knowledge, understanding and application of claims. Examples of some of the available units are:

• General insurance business
• Claims handling process
• Motor products
• Household products
• Insurance practice
• Personal insurance practice
• Commercial insurance practice
• Claims management
• Life & Disability claims
• Property claims handling*
• Subsidence claims handling*

4. Helping you to demonstrate to your employer commitment to maintaining and enhancing your competence. The Faculty will offer many ways to do this including:

Insurance & Broker Assess – an online training and competence tool. Relevant subjects currently covered are :

• Principles of claims settlement
• Claims technical key fact modules
• Knowledge assessment system and dedicated claims question bank

Face to face training courses

• Claims management
• Claims handling process
• Examination revision courses

CII Information Services

• Over 2000 relevant sources of information relating to claims, including access to a vast majority of this online.
