Awards Panel Vacancy
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is looking to recruit two new CII members for its Panel.
The Awards Panel reports to the governing body of the CII and meets once per annum in March at Aldermanbury in London.
The Awards Panel sets very high standards and the appointees would be expected to maintain or improve the principles adopted by the members of the Awards Panel. This Awards Panel fulfils a key role in the relationship between local institutes and The CII with its Awards processes.
The main requirements of the Award Panel members are to:
- be previous recipients of the Bridgewater, Exceptional or Distinguished Service Awards.
- contribute to the discussion relating to all aspects of the Awards process.
- consider carefully all nominations submitted by local institutes and/or CII Members.
- make awards, if warranted for The Bridgewater Award, Exceptional Service and Distinguished Service Medals which are designed to recognise exceptional service to the CII/PFS.
Please be advised that the role is voluntary with no remuneration; however, all reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. On average each meeting lasts about 4 hours excluding travelling time. Members will be expected to read the guidance notes and papers provided in advance of the meeting as well as attending the meeting itself.
The CII supports diversification and, in seeking new awards panel members, would particularly like to encourage applications from members of all ages and from the following under-represented groups:
- ethnic minorities;
- disabled under the Equality Act;
- minority faiths or beliefs;
- minority sexual orientations.
Application packs include the Terms of Reference for the Awards Panel, a job description, person specification and details of how to apply. To obtain a pack please contact Maree Hall, via email on maree.hall@cii.co.uk or by telephone on 0044 (0)20 7417 4414. The closing date for applications is 21 October 2011.
Interviews will take place at the CII’s central London offices on 2 and/or 3 November 2011.
Accreditation Panel Vacancy
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is looking to recruit a new member for its Accreditation Panel.
The Accreditation Panel’s role is to provide governance for the CII’s accreditation schemes and to verify accreditation decisions. The Accreditation Panel meets up to four times in a year for approximately two hours per meeting.
The individual concerned should be able to demonstrate:
- knowledge of the financial services industry (e.g. insurance practitioner knowledge)
- awareness of training and competence and regulatory requirements for the sector
- be a member of a UK financial services professional body
- experience of committee membership and/or chairmanship of meetings
- strong communication and interpersonal skills to contribute to Panel discussion
- ability to contribute willingly and effectively to the decision-making process
- education sector or training environment awareness
Appointments to the Panel are for a term of three years, which can then be extended for a further three-year term, provided the member remains eligible through that period. Please be advised that this is a voluntary role with no remuneration; however, all travel expenses will be reimbursed. All new members are required to attend a CII induction within six months of appointment.
The CII supports diversification and whilst applications from all members will be welcomed, we would particularly like to encourage applications from members of all ages and from the following under- represented groups::
- Women
- Ethnic minorities
- Disabled under the Equality Act
- Minority faiths or beliefs
- Minority Sexual Orientations
If you would like an application pack (including the Terms of Reference for the Committee and the competency profile), please contact Accreditation Services via email on accreditation@cii.co.u or by telephone on +44 (0) 207 417 4426.
