In 2008 the Treasury set up an Insurance Industry Working Group (IIWG) to look at ways of enhancing the role of the UK insurance industry and the medium to long-term challenges and opportunities facing the sector. The Group, which represents the various strands of the insurance industry, has published a paper entitled "Vision for the insurance industry in 2020" which incorporates the Group's views and a series of recommendations on how best the industry can meet the challenges and opportunities it faces.
