Why should I enter?
Members that have achieved individual Chartered Insurance Broker status are now widely recognised as having achieved the gold standard for the broking profession and clearly demonstrate a commitment to professionalism.
The CII will now recognise the contribution that those holding the Chartered Insurance Broker title have made to raising professional standards. The inaugural Chartered Insurance Broker of the Year award will see a Chartered Insurance Broker recognised by their professional body following a rigorous judging process.
The winner will have demonstrated superior ability across a broad range of professional skills and an extraordinary commitment to the advancement of their profession. Being the winner of the Chartered Insurance Broker of the Year award ‘10 will be a unique achievement and undoubtedly represent the ultimate endorsement of excellence and individual professional achievement.
Am I eligible to enter?
The Chartered Insurance Broker (Individual) award category is open to individuals who:
- Hold a current Chartered Insurance Broker title;
- Are currently practising as insurance brokers;
- Are full members of the Chartered Insurance Institute;
- Have full and current CPD records; and
- Submit their entry before the closing date of 30 April 2010 .
How will I be judged?
By entering for the award for Chartered Insurance Broker of the Year you will be committing to a judging process designed to enable you to demonstrate a wide range of skills necessary to give clients accurate, clear, effective and highly professional insurance advice, and be able to represent your profession. You will be required to demonstrate a rounded understanding of what professionalism in the insurance broking sector really means. This involves an appreciation of how professionalism can be measured in terms other than pure commercial success.
Entrants should be able to demonstrate or provide evidence for activity and commitment in the four following areas, supported by external evidence where available:
Professionalism
How have you reflected and helped raise the standards of professionalism in the insurance broking sector?
Ethics & integrity
How do you demonstrate and generate understanding of ethics and integrity in our profession?
Exceptional customer service
How do you ensure you provide customer service over and above the competition?
Additional strengths
What are your added extras? Use this part to draw on other areas of excellence and particular interests.
How do I enter?
Entrants are invited to submit an entry online and explain to the judges, in no more than 1,200 words, why they think they should receive the accolade of Chartered Insurance Broker of the Year for 2010.
Entrants are encouraged to support their entry with evidence or other documentation, for example customer testimonials or peer references, which they feel demonstrates their worthiness to win this award.
Entrants will be assessed on the case they put forward in the four areas outlined above. Entrants are required to have up to date CPD records should the panel wish to review the standard and extent of CPD activity.
Throughout the process the ultimate winner will undoubtedly demonstrate a passion for their profession, and demonstrate the high standards of professionalism expected of someone who is about to be elevated as a role model for the entire broking profession.
