The CII has a strong presence across the Middle East. The CII has a local liaison office based in Bahrain since 2005 and has currently 2 members of staff to provide a local point of contact for members and students and to develop the region with our strategic partners based in the region.

We are working with local regulators such as the Central Bank of Bahrain who have mandated the CII’s Award in Financial Planning and the Award in General Insurance as a minimum standard of entry into the market which is available in both English and Arabic. These programmes are tailored to include international regulatory best practice to provide a minimum standard of knowledge for insurance personnel across the region.

We are working with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance across the Gulf region to raise overall standards of professionalism in the insurance industry through the provision of qualifications, training and member services in support of CII qualifications.

The CII has also developed a Principles of Takaful unit in conjunction with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance which is part of the CII’s Advanced Diploma in Insurance. This module is currently available in English but will be available in Arabic for the April 2010 exam.

The CII is also developing our presence across the region through partnerships with training providers such as the Lebanese German University in Beirut who promote CII qualifications and membership.
