The CII's Underwriting Faculty aims to raise the levels of
professional knowledge and technical competence and to assist
members in their personal career development.
Faculty benefits and mission statement
The following video explains the benefits offered by CII Faculty
membership. Ant Gould (director, CII Faculties) discusses the
Faculties' mission statement and how this is realised by technical
resources, networking opportunities and CPD support.
Following this, Crystal Hunt (executive, CII Faculties)
introduces the New Generation programme, which is designed to
attract and support new talent in the insurance industry, creating
future champions for the profession.
The faculty provides members with a host of relevant and
timely information in a range of formats, covering high level
research, technical and legal developments, through to topical
debates and seminars - all designed to keep you up to date with
your chosen area of expertise through market relevant CPD
offerings.
Each faculty is directed by a board of key market practitioners
whose role is to provide advice, technical expertise, access to key
personnel and advocacy of the CII's professional agenda. The chair
of the Underwriting Faculty board is presently David
Williams, FCII, Director of underwriting and claims, Axa
Commercial.
The Future of Underwriting
The faculty recently tied up with management consultancy
Oliver Wyman to look at how underwriting could change over the next
ten years and what these changes mean for organisational focus,
culture and skills. The report predicts that the commercial
insurance market will undergo radical change over the next decade,
placing unprecedented demand on firms and driving diversification
in the required skills and career choices for individual
underwriters. Read the report now
