The CII library is
a specialist library dedicated to insurance, risk and related financial
services. It is the largest library of its kind in the UK and one
of the largest in the world.
Subjects covered include all branches
of insurance, risk management, loss prevention, civil liability,
shipping, aviation, pensions, investment and other financial services.
The collection is international, with extensive holdings from all
parts of the world in addition to a large collection of UK material
that includes virtually everything ever published in the UK on insurance.

Books and pamphlets.

electronic resources, including Current legal information and the Insurance market reports from Axco, a series of in-depth surveys covering over 125 countries, each regularly updated.

Six centuries of insurance publishing
and a unique collection of policy documents and other ephemera.

Printed resources
Most of the collections are open access and you can browse the shelves at leisure. Please note that some older material is held off site and may take a day to retrieve for you (look out for shelfmarks beginning 9.9).
Electronic resources
A wide range of electronic resources is available for use in the library. Subject to copyright, you can print from all these services.
Internet access
Free Internet access is provided on three public workstations.
Knowledge Gateway
You can search the full database (as members can on this site) and obtain printouts of search results.
Enquiries
Professional staff are on hand to provide assistance.
Photocopying
A self-service photocopier is available in the library. This accepts all coins as well as cards which can be bought at the counter.

Admission
CII members
All CII members have free admission to the library. If you are not a member and wish to make occasional use of the library or other services from CII Knowledge Services you are advised to join the CII, providing this is for your own information needs.
CII membership gives you full access to CII Knowledge Services, including library admission, lending and access to the online members only area. In all cases access is provided on the understanding that the information and materials made available are for your own use. Other membership benefits include the CII's Journal and discounts on other CII publications.

Admission charges
If you only want to use the library for reference purposes for a day or two and don't want to access our online services and there is no one else in your firm who would also like to use our services then our admission charges may be appropriate for you.

The area is well served by the London

Underground
The following stations are within
walking distance of Aldermanbury: St Paul's (Central), Moorgate
(Circle, Metropolitan, Northern), Bank/Monument (Central, Northern,
Waterloo and City, Docklands Light Railway), Cannon Street (Circle,
District), Mansion House (Circle, District). An underground

Rail
The following stations are within walking
