Guidelines as to how to download ebooks from Discovery to be
read offline. Please note: this guidance does not apply to CII
study text ebooks.
You may choose to download an eBook to your computer or tablet
and read it offline at a later time. This takes a little bit of
setting up in the first instance, but is very easy to do so

These two tasks only need to be done once. You will then be
ready to download ebooks to your chosen device. You can download
these books for up to 7 days at a time.
To download an eBook
Search or browse for the ebook you would like to download. See
guide if you would like further information on how to do
From your results, click the "Download (Offline)" link for
the eBook you would like to download.
If you are not logged into your Discovery folder, you are
prompted to do so.
Select a checkout period from the drop-down menu and
click the "Checkout &

If you have been successful, you will be shown this pop-up
You can either access the ebook from the link on this pop-up
window, or via the checkout area of your folder, accessible from
the upper-right corner of the Discovery interface.
Your checkouts folder will look something like this:
Click on "Download (Offline)" - highlighted above in red. If on
a desktop computer, a download will appear at the bottom of your

automatically open and begin downloading your ebook. You can access
it for the length of the borrowing period (7 to 28 days depending
on the publication days) after which time you would need to check
it out again.
When accessing ebooks via tablet, downloading procedures after
you have clicked on "Download (Offline)" may vary.
