Programme Overview

09.45 - Keynote: The changing face of underwriting & distribution

Barry Smith, Chief Executive, Fortis Insurance Ltd.
Changing dynamics within the general insurance market have blurred the boundaries between underwriters and brokers and changed the way organisations need to think about distribution and other strategic issues. So what is the future for underwriting? What will be the impact on firms and individuals, and how should the market respond?

10.15 - The 21st Century underwriter

Andy Baldwin, Head of Insurance, Ernst & Young
An analysis of the findings of research undertaken by the CII’s Underwriting Faculty and Ernst & Young into the prospects for underwriting within a fast-changing market. This will include an assessment of the likely shape of the distribution landscape in five years’ time and speculate how underwriters will need to change in response to the pressures they will face.

This session will present some of the key headline findings of that research.

Rolf Tolle, Franchise Performance Director, Lloyd’s

This session will look at the key features and will provide practical guidance for underwriters and brokers.
