2012 sees the centenary of the Chartered Insurance Institute
(CII) having been granted its original Royal Charter by King George
V.
The CII worked hard to identify a theme under which we might
bring together our diverse membership.
One thing that seems a constant within everything we do is
'risk'. Wherever we are and whatever we do we are rarely far from
the issue of risk. Whether offering advice and guidance to an
individual client, on how best to protect their lifestyle or to
prepare for their retirement we strive to understand, manage and
define risk at every turn - it is the very issue that defines
insurance and financial services - our DNA.
The CII Future Risk animation was premiered at the British
Insurance Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 4 July.
We have been mindful of the need not just to celebrate the past
but also to embrace the future and the challenges we will face in
the coming century. Those challenges that face humanity will be the
same as those that face our profession. Further information on the
CII Chartered Centenary and Future Risk is available at www.CII100.com
There you'll find a discussion of the key trends from the past
century (the building blocks for any future-gazing predictions),
analysis of the changing set of global challenges and, critically,
debate on what the next 100 years hold for the insurance and
financial services sector. The site is designed for the profession.
Whichever part of the sector you work in, this is your chance to
get involved: join the debate, comment on our conclusions and help
to shape the future.
