The person I am searching for does not appear. Why?
Please ensure you have entered the member's name
correctly. The more specific you are in the name search, the more
likely you are to find the correct member. If their name is entered
correctly and they still do not appear, they may have chosen not to
be listed. You can verify their status by contacting Customer
Service on +44 (0)20 8989 8464.
I’m struggling to differentiate between the listed members. Can you help?
Members are listed by name, membership level, Chartered
status, country and area (the local institute to which UK members
belong). This is the limit of information we are permitted to make
publicly available. We want to provide enough information so that
you can verify an individual's credentials. If you need to know
more about membership levels, Chartered status and area, please
read on.
Are all CII/ PFS members on the database?
All CII/PFS members are entered into the system. However,
members may withdraw themselves from the listing. As stated in Q1
above, you may still validate a member's details by calling CII
Customer Service.
Can you please explain what the different membership levels stand for?
Visit our member designations page
for a breakdown »
What are the categories of individual Chartered status?
Chartered Financial Planner: These are
eligible members whose business is to provide financial planning
advice or related activities to individuals or corporate entities.
They may use the descriptive title Chartered Financial Planner.
Chartered Insurer: These are qualified members
working for insurance companies and Lloyd's underwriting
agents.
Chartered Insurance Practitioner: These are
qualified members who work as insurance intermediaries or loss
adjusters, in trade and professional bodies and in other
insurance-related occupations.
Chartered Insurance Broker: These are qualified
members carrying on business as an insurance broker. An insurance
broker is an independent intermediary who acts for clients and, in
respect of any product type, offers or sells the products of more
than one insurer.
What does 'Area' mean?
The term 'area' refers to the local insurance institute to which
the member belongs. Every CII member in the UK is also a member of
one of 60 local institutes.
I’m a member, but cannot find myself in the search. Why?
Please ensure your name is entered correctly and that you have
selected the country you have listed as your default address with
the CII. Also check your membership is up to date. If you still
experience problems, either log in to the CII site using the login
panel on the left hand side of the home page and check your details
within 'your profile' section, or call Customer Service on +44
(0)20 8989 8464.
My listed details are incorrect. What do I do?
You can change some of your personal details by logging in to
the CII site using the login panel on the left hand side of the
home page and by going to 'my profile'. Otherwise you should notify
CII Customer Service on tel: +44 (0)20 8989 8464 or by email at customer.serv@cii.co.uk
How do I remove myself from the search?
We believe all members should be listed in the database for
reasons of transparency and openness. However, if you wish to be
excluded from this facility, please login and update your profile details here,
tick the opt-out box and click 'continue' to save your details.
Does this database show all individuals who hold CII qualifications?
No. This is a database of members only, many of whom hold CII
qualifications. Individuals can hold CII qualifications without
being a member.
All members must comply with the CII Code of Ethics, and
qualified members must also follow a programme of Continuing
Professional Development (CPD).
