Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

What is Continuing Professional Development (CPD)?

CPD is activity undertaken to ensure members' skills and knowledge are up-to-date. It is a common requirement for qualified members of professional bodies. It reflects the fact that, in today's fast changing world, knowledge gained through qualifications quickly dates and, if our members are to remain competent, they must continue to develop and enhance their knowledge.

I am a qualified member of the CII/PFS holding a designation, where can I find information regarding the Continuing Professional Development Scheme?

Why can't I log on to the new hours-based CPD recording tool?

Why can't I log on to the new hours-based CPD recording tool? To log in to the new CPD recording tool you'll need to use your CII website profile details. If you don't have a CII profile please go to https://www.cii.co.uk/membership/register-new-user/ to create one. You can then use these details to access to the CPD tool. If you're still having difficulty please contact Customer Service on +44 (0) 20 8989 8464.

What should I do if I have forgotten my username/password (new hours-based tool)?

If you are a returning customer and you have lost your password please click on the 'Forgotten password' link below the login fields. When prompted, enter the email address you used when registering on the CII web site. An email will be sent to this address with a verification link back to the CII web site. You will then be prompted for your PIN and invited to enter a new password.

The email address that you enter must be the same as the one you used to register, if your email address has since changed, you will not be able to use this facility and will be required to call Customer Service +44 (0) 20 8989 8464.

What should I do if I have forgotten my username/password (existing credits-based tool)?

If you have forgotten either your username or password or both, you need to click on the 'forgotten password or username?' link on www.cpd.cii.co.uk and fill in your email address that you registered with. You will then receive an automated email with your username and password within an hour.

The email address that you enter must be the same as the one you used to register, if your email address has since changed, you will not be able to use this facility and will be required to call Customer Service +44 (0) 20 8989 8464.

I am a user of the existing credits-based CPD tool, where can I find information about moving over to the new hours-based CPD scheme?

I am a user of the existing credits-based CPD tool, why can’t I change my CPD start date?

You are unable to change your start date, however, you can record activities that you have undertaken up to 12 months prior to your start date.
