There are many opportunities for our people to
express and contribute their ideas and views and to engage with the
CII.
Below are a few examples of the CII's communication framework
used for engaging with our people:
The Information and Consultation Forum (ICF)
The Information & Consultation Forum (ICF) plays a key role
in supporting the internal communication across the CII Group. The
forum is comprised of staff representatives from across the
organisation and representatives of CII management who meet
quarterly to discuss business matters and issues raised by CII
staff.
The ICF provides a means for staff to put forward suggestions or
ask questions about the business in confidence. As a result, the
ICF has been influential in making changes, for example,
introducing recycling and environmental initiatives at the
CII.
The ICF have contributed to the development of the CII values, the
P&DR process and the competency framework and also provide
feedback to the senior management team on issues such as the
strategic plan.
Investors in People (IiP)
Investors in People (IiP) is a national standard for achieving
business goals through employee learning, development and
communication. The CII were first accredited as an Investor in
People in December 2003. In 2005, and November 2008 we were
reaccredited as continuing to meet the standard, achieving
Investors in People Gold standard in 2011.
Business Updates
Quarterly business updates provide a key mechanism for staff to
receive updates on our strategic objectives in line with our
values, mission and our purpose. This form of communication has
been firmly in place for more than ten years and provides staff
with an opportunity to receive an update on key strategic and
operational developments.
Roundtable Discussions
Regularly scheduled 'Roundtable discussions' allow employees
from across the organisation to meet and discuss a range of topics
including current projects, and initiatives. These events allow all
employees to contribute ideas, suggestions, and to review the CII's
progress against its strategic objectives in addition to promoting
informal networking and cross-departmental communication.
People Matters
People Matters is the CII's internal HR newsletter designed to
support our learning culture and IiP. It is a great way of sharing
knowledge, learning activities, our values and mission. The success
of People Matters is as a result of our people's commitment and
involvement in writing articles and providing ideas for subsequent
issues.
Social Committee
We have an active social committee which helps to develop the
sense of teamwork that we believe is important in ensuring our
continued success. The aim of the CII social committee (CIISC) is
to try to run a variety of events during the year, recognising that
people have different interests and preferences, but hoping that
there will be something for everyone. Since its launch in 2006, we
have organised many events, including; summer parties, quiz nights,
bowling, London walks, karaoke, ice skating, a trip to
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and a pantomime.
